Dear colleague,
We would like to thank you for participating in MG8, and to thank you in advance for your
cooperation in preparing the Proceedings. The Proceedings Volume will be published by
World Scientific. This page describes the preparation and submission of a paper to the MG8
conference proceedings. We are keen to get the volume into circulation as quickly as
possible. Therefore we set an early deadline:
Please follow the instructions below closely as most of the processing of submitted
papers will be automated.
The submission process is fairly similar to the submission to gr-qc but several
restrictions apply: your contribution should be a Latex file using the World Scientific
style with (possibly) encapsulated postscript (EPS) files for figures. You must get the
updated style file from the MG8
ftp site. All files must be tared, compressed and uuencoded (using uufiles) and
mailed to mg8short@shemesh.fiz.huji.ac.il (or to mg8long@shemesh.fiz.huji.ac.il
for 20 page papers) with a subject heading indicating the name of the relevant session. If
you think that this information is sufficient you can skip the rest -- BUT please look at
the relevant titles for the parallel sessions below.
More specific instructions follow.
The contribution should be prepared in plain LaTeX, using the WORLD SCIENTIFIC conference style macros. Use only the style files available from MG8, as the page size and other details are slightly different than the usual. The relevant files are:
The files are also available by the following methods:
or in one tarred, gzipped file viz:
% ftp shemesh.fiz.huji.ac.il
Name: anonymous
Password: your email address
ftp> cd pub
ftp> binary
ftp> get mprocl.tar.gz
Your contribution must be compressed (by "gzip") and uuencoded (by
"uuencode") before mailed to MG8. This will prevent possible mail problems. If
the contribution contains more than one file (probably a LaTeX file and Encapsulated
PostScript (EPS) file(s) for the figures), then all files MUST first be packed together
(by "tar"), then gzipped and finally uuencoded.
This may be best done using the "uufiles" csh script, that package up files into
uuencoded, compressed, tar files. "uufiles" is available as a macro from:
ftp://xxx.lanl.gov/macros/
It can also be obtained from our ftp site:
ftp://shemesh.fiz.huji.ac.il/pub/
Specific instructions regarding the usage of uufiles can be found at:
http://xxx.lanl.gov/faq/uufaq.html
Further instructions and help about all these wonders can be found, for example, on
the web in the utilities section of the xxx Help directory:
http://xxx.lanl.gov/help/utilities
Contributions can only be accepted by e-mail and must be sent as one uuencoded,
compressed, tar file.
1. Mail a plenary talk or a summary of parallel session to:
2. Mail contributed papers to:
The subject line of your mail message must include the name of your parallel session
(see the following list). The automated processing procedure will return files without a
proper subject that can identify the session. Please choose the appropriate title from the
following list. To prevent typos, we strongly advise you to copy the title from the list
provided in this message. Messages with an unidentified subject will be automatically
rejected.

Your contribution will be automatically rejected if:
1. We cannot uudecode/gunzip/un-tar your message.
2. We cannot LaTeX your file.
3. Your contribution is too long.
4. Your subject line is wrong.
In any case you will receive an automated reply, indicating whether your contribution has
been digested successfully. If for some reason it is rejected, then please read carefully
the message you receive from us and try again. Authors who submit successfully at the
first go are promised by the Editors that special attention will be given to insure that
their names are spelled correctly.
Once your contribution is accepted successfully (it does happen, now and again) you will
receive a message acknowledging this. This message will also contain your contribution's
identification code. REMEMBER THIS CODE, as you will be required to quote it the unlikely
event that further human intervention will be required in order to handle your
contribution.
Thanks for your cooperation,
The MG8 LOC
