Abstract

GRB3

The Ep,i - Eiso correlation in Gamma-Ray Bursts

The correlation between the isotropic-equivalent radiated energy, Eiso, and the photon energy at which the cosmological rest-frame nuFnu spectrum peaks, Ep,i, is one of the most intriguing and debated observational evidences in the GRB field. I will provide an updated observational status of the Ep,i-Eiso correlation, including very recent Swift and Fermi results, review its main implications, which include the physics of the prompt emission, the identification and understanding of different classes of GRBs and the possible use of GRBs as standardized candles for the estimate of cosmological parameters, and discuss the possible impact of selection and detectors thresholds effects.
