The Underlying Structure of the Abstract Boundary Construction |
The Abstract Boundary construction for space-time was introduced by Scott and Szekeres [Scott, S. M. and Szekeres, P. (1994), J. Geom. Phys. 13:223-253] in 1994. We utilise a correspondence between a class of embeddings of a given manifold and a class of distances on the manifold to develop a new framework for the Abstract Boundary. This new framework relies solely on mathematical objects defined on the manifold in question and as a result reveals the underlying structure of the Abstract Boundary as well as providing us with more, and better understood, tools for working with the Abstract Boundary. |
