Abstract

Testing the Limitations of a Characteristic Numerical Relativity Code

The most popular approach to numerical relativity has been based on the Cauchy initial value problem where spacetime is decomposed into spacelike hypersurfaces. However, in this talk a parallel characteristic code is tested against known analytic linearized solutions which are parametrized by an angular parameter l. We will show that tfhe accuracy of the results generated by the code will in general depends on the value of l.
