Abstract

Observational constraints on cosmological parameters and cosmic topology

We examine to which extent the knowledge of spatial topology can be used to place constraints on the cosmological parameters. By assuming globally homogeneous topologies as detectable topologies of the spatial sections of the Universe, we re-analyze the constraints on the density and equation-of-state (EOS) parameters from a diverse set of current observational data. We show that such a topology detection gives rise to strong and complementary important constraints on the density and EOS parameters currently allowed by these observational data sets.

Constraints on modified gravity models and cosmic topology

We study the constraints that spatial topology may place on the parameters of Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati (DGP) braneworld model. By considering globally homogeneous spatial topologies we examine the constraints that can be placed on the parameters of this model. We show that knowledge of spatial topology provides relevant constraints, particularly on the curvature parameter of the DGP model.
