Abstract

On alternative forms of the charged C-metric

Recently, Hong and Teo proposed a new form of the C-metric with a cubic (quartic for the charged case) structure function that admits simple expressions for its roots. Not only does this lead to significant simplifications in any analysis of the C-metric, it also better parametrises the solution in terms of the mass, charge and acceleration of the black hole it describes. In this talk, I will point out the existence of another form of the charged C-metric that also has a structure function admitting simple expressions for its roots. The relationship between the two different forms will be discussed. Furthermore, it will be shown that the second form has the advantage that it allows the charged C-metric to be cast, for the first time, explicitly in Weyl coordinates.
