Bar-mode instability in full General Relativity

We present results of simulations in full General Relativity of the dynamical instability against barmode deformations of differentially rotating neutron stars. We show that the devolpment of the instability may be simulated without introducing perturbation in the initial condition and that the resulting bar-like deformation is not persistent. We determined that the critical value for the onset of the dynamical instability of a sequence of differentially rotating polytropic models with polytropic index N=1 and conserved ``barion'' mass equal to 1.5 solar mass is $\beta=T/W=0.255$.
