Abstract

Investigation of a two-brane Kanno-Soda type cosmology

We consider a Randall-Sundrum two-brane cosmological model in a low energy approximation following Kanno and Soda (PR D66:083506, 2002). It is a scalar-tensor theory with a specific coupling function and matter tensors on both branes. Upon introducing the FLRW metric and perfect fluid matter on both branes the effective Friedmann equation for the scale factor of the A-brane (our Universe) decouples from the scalar field leaving only a nonvanishing integration constant (dark radiation term). We find exact solutions for the scale factor of the A-brane for three types of matter tensors on both branes: cosmological constants, radiation, dust. We perform a complementary analysis of the dynamics of the scalar field in phase space and find fixed points. Observational constraints from PPN and BBN are also briefly discussed.
