Abstract

General relativistic MHD with AMR

Parallel adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) is important for high resolution simulations in general relativity. We discuss techniques for solving the general relativistic MHD equations with AMR. Both the Einstein equations and the MHD equations are discretized with finite differences, simplifying the AMR implementation. We discuss techniques for divergence cleaning the MHD equations that may be used to limit constraint growth in the Einstein equations. We present results of test problems with AMR, scaling tests for distributed parallel AMR, and preliminary results in general relativity.
