Abstract

CM4

Different paths to numerical simulations of compact binaries

Topic of this presentation is the numerical simulation of compact binaries. Focus will be the comparison of different approaches to achieve such simulations, both in fully non-linear general relativity and using approximative methods. The key question to be addressed is, how the different approaches agree, and thus provide a realiable platform to derive physical quantities and accurate waveforms to support the ongoing efforts to detect gravitational waves.
