Abstract

APT2

On spectral and timing characteristics of black hole and neutron sources. Concluding remarks of session APT2

I review talks presented in session APT2. The main emphasis will be on combined study of spectral and timing characteristics of compact objects: Observations and Theory. Particular, the data show a strong correlation between 0.1-20 Hz frequencies of quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) and spectral index for Galactic black hole (BH) and neutron star (NS) sources. I also review power spectra of BHs and NSs as a probe of hydrodynamical structure of the source: Diffusion Theory and its application to the observations.
