Abstract

The NASA Beyond Einstein Program

Beyond Einstein is a multi-mission endeavor over the next two decades to answer the three most pressing questions raised by his theories: What powered the big bang? What happens at the edge of a black hole? And what is dark energy, the force that is speeding the expansion of the universe? Two flagship missions now in formulation, Constellation-X and LISA, will probe space in two wholly different ways - one through X-rays and the other through gravitational radiation. Complementing these will be three smaller, focused missions to study black holes, the big bang and dark energy.
