Swift observations of GRB050712 afterglow.

Abstract_

We present the results of X-ray and optical observations of GRB 050712 performed by Swift. One of the main observational finding is that the X-ray lightcurve of this burst exhibts evident flares in the first 1000 seconds, while the UV/Optical counterpart do not show strong variability. We find that this behaviour may be explained in terms of late activity of the burst 'central engine', with the possibility that the last X-ray flare is caused by the interaction of the ejecta with the surrounding medium during the beginning of the forward shock emission. Moreover, we discuss an interpretation of the optical emission in terms of mild relativistic reverse shocks at early times, and in terms of forward shock during the late epochs.
