Multiplicative form of Lorentz-Einstein transformation and its application in the description of an accelerating body |
Abstract _ |
A body accelerating under the influence of a constant force is studied. The force is assumed to act in impulses. It is pointed out that in conventional treatment of relativistic acceleration it is implied that increaments are added following Galilean law of addition. In this paper, increaments are added following Lorentz-Einstein (L-E)law of addition. Between impulses the bodies are considered to be in inertial states of motion. An L-E law of multiplication is given. This gives the result of repeated L-E addition just as ordinary multiplication gives the effect of repeated Galilean addition. When every impulse is broken into L-E sum of infinitesimal impulses, we go over to the case of the action of a continuous constant force. In the classical limit, it goes over to the correct Galilean expression. |
