Trapping of neutrinos in extremely compact neutron stars

Abstract_

Extremely compact objects $R<3M$ contain trapped null geodesics. Assuming neutrinos moving along null geodesics, we can show that some part of neutrinos will be trapped inside the object. We produce simple model of the object with uniform density profile and calculate (numerically and also analytically) ratio of trapped and produced neutrinos. We characterize influence of the neutrino trapping on the neutrino luminosity and on the cooling process by appropriately chosen coefficients. The existence of trapped neutrinos indicates possibility of "two-temperature" cooling regime of extremely compact objects.
