Thermal radiation from spark heated polar caps |

The model of partially screened gap above the polar cap is considered. Our special interest is the polar cap heating rate and the subpulse drifting rate. Both these phenomena are assumed to be associated with sparks operating at the polar cap. We derive relationship between the thermal X-ray luminosity and the tertiary drift periodicity (polar cap carousel time). For pulsars with both quantities known this relationship holds very well. |
