Rod-Structure of Stationary and Axisymmetric Metrics |
Abstract _ |
An old and important problem in General Relativity is how to classify and categorize stationary and axisymmetric metrics. This problem has become even more important for higher-dimensional General Relativity, with the discovery of new solutions such as black rings. I discuss a proposal of how to categorize stationary and axisymmetric metrics from their rod-structure. If correct, the proposal gives a complete classification of stationary and axisymmetric metrics (that are asymptotically flat and in pure gravity). |
