We discuss physical aspects of the Kerr and Kerr-Newman solutions. Emphasis is given to the multipole structure, including its nonlinear nature in general relativity. It is argued that physical consequences of the general relativistic multipole structure are likely to be important for macroscopic as well as microscopic systems. |
