Mme. Tonnelat's Research Concerning Unified Field Theory |

After working with L. de Broglie and,briefly, with E. Schroedinger, Marie-Antoinette Tonnelat directed her research after the 2nd world war to Einstein's unified field theory based on metric-affine geometry. The independent variables, i.e., metric and connection, obey Einstein's so-called weak field equations. Mme. Tonnelat succeeded in expressing the connection as a functional of the metric and its first derivative. This process and the research group around Mme.Tonnelat will be discussed. |
