The Casimir effect and negative index media |
Abstract _ |
We investigate negative index media as possible materials for the Casimir effect. We show that the Casimir energy of the slab made of a hypothetical material with n->-1 tends to zero. We then estimate the Casimir force between mirrors coated with a meta material where we use the Lorentz-Drude model to describe the frequency dependance of the negative refractive index. |
