Classical renormalisation for D0-branes interacting with 1-form field |
Abstract _ |
We consider point-like particles interacting with the massless vector field in ten space-time dimensions. Self-action of the vector field upon the particle generates four divergent terms which can be parametrized as odd negative powers of x as x-> 0. Absence of even-power divergences makes the theory renormalizable via introduction of four reparametrisation-invariant counterterms which can be expressed in terms of three lower curvatures of the D0-brane worldline. The situation is discussed in the framework of the Frenet-Serret dynamics. The finite part of self-action produces the radiation reaction force which is calculated explicitly. Its form suggests that deviations from geodesic motion due to curvature terms must relax via radiation. |
