Cosmological singularities in FLRW spacetimes

In this talk we intend to review our recent results on cosmological singularities in FLRW spacetimes. The discovery of accelerated expansion in our Universe has motivated extensions and modifications of classical general relativity in order to cope with this phenomenon. This has produced as an unexpected result the theoretical formulation of new types of singularities, such as Big Rip, sudden singularities or directional singularities. These singularities may be predicted from the form of the scale factor of the universe, additional terms in Friedmann equation, or the equation of state for the energy-matter content of the universe. The strength of the singularities can be checked either within this framework.
