Abstract

AP2

Decay of strong magnetic field into massive neutrinos via Pauli coupling

The possiblity of neutrino production near the compact objects through the instability of strong magnetic field B > 10^{15} G is discussed. The production rate is calculated from the emerging imaginary part of the effective action when the massive neutrinos with nonvanishing magnetic moment are integrated out.

AP2

Neutrino production in a strong magnetic field

We discuss the observational effects of the direct coupling of neutrino magnetic moment with electromagnetic field through Pauli interaction in extreme conditions. It is found that beyond critical field strength the imaginary part of the effective action emerges indicating the instability. We calculate the neutrino pair creation rate from the instability of the strong magnetic field possibly in the vicinity of astrophysical compact objects.
