Compatible discretisations in General Relativity |
The Einstein equations are a special in two ways: 1. they are geometric equations in the sense that they express conditions on the underlying geometry and are therefore invariant under arbitrary coordinate transformations and they are (2) derivable from a variational principle, which implies that there is an underlying symplectic structure. Both aspects could be used in numerical simulations and the talk explores various attempts to do so. |

The sphericaly symmetric elastic body in GR |
In this talk a short account of the theory of relativistic elasticity as developed by Carter-Quintana, Kijowski-Magli and Beig-Schmidt will be presented. Some results and numerical studies for the case of a spherically symmetric static body will be given. |
