Abstract

ANM4

Compatible discretisations in General Relativity

The Einstein equations are a special in two ways: 1. they are geometric equations in the sense that they express conditions on the underlying geometry and are therefore invariant under arbitrary coordinate transformations and they are (2) derivable from a variational principle, which implies that there is an underlying symplectic structure. Both aspects could be used in numerical simulations and the talk explores various attempts to do so.

MGAT7

The sphericaly symmetric elastic body in GR

In this talk a short account of the theory of relativistic elasticity as developed by Carter-Quintana, Kijowski-Magli and Beig-Schmidt will be presented. Some results and numerical studies for the case of a spherically symmetric static body will be given.
