Status of CLIO

CLIO (Cryogenic Laser Interferometer Observatory) is a Japanese 100m-baseline underground cryogenic interferometer at the Kamioka Mine, near the Super-Kamiokande neutrino detector. The CLIO tunnel was dug in 2002, and the operation of CLIO started in 2006. The goal of CLIO is to demonstrate the two characteristics of LCGT, underground site and cryogenic mirrors. The merit of underground site is its quietness. The seismic noise is expected to be smaller by two orders than city area. The mirror cooling is adopted to reduce the thermal noise of mirrors. We will present the design and current status of CLIO.
