Abstract

Mass determination of the super massive black hole in the NGC4051 Seyfert-1 galaxy based on X-ray spectrum fitting with Bulk Motion Comptonization model

We present the analysis of soft X-ray emission of NGC4051 Seyfert-1 galaxy measured by XMM-Newton X-ray telescope. We used Bulk Motion Comptonization (BMC) model to fit the spectra obtained for two different time periods: May 16, 2001 ("observation 1") and November 22, 2002 ("observation 2"). The analysis showed that the shapes of these specta are similar to the ones measured for Galactic black hole X-ray binary Cygnus X-1 in High/Soft state (for observatyion 1) and Low/Hard state (for observation 2), respectively. Comparison of BMC fit normalization parameters obtained for NGC4051 and Cygnus X-1 allows us to determine the mass of super massive black hole (SMBH) in NGC4051 from known Cygnus X-1 black hole mass (7.9 solar masses). The values of the SMBH mass obtained from two different observations are consistent and equal to 2*10^5 solar masses while the normalization parameter has changed between two observations by a factor of 5. Our value of SMBH mass is also consistent with published virial mass estimation for NGC4051.
