Abstract

On spacetimes of accelerated objects in general relativity

The boost-rotation symmetric solutions are the only explicit solutions representing finite moving objects in GR. We consider their Newtonian limit using the Ehlers frame theory and illustrate it by specific examples (such as charged C-metric). The Newtonian limits correspond to the fields of classical point (charged) masses accelerated uniformly in classical mechanics. We also consider various limits of the C-metric representing two rotating charged black holes accelerated in opposite directions. In particular we analyze the special-relativistic limit in which the electromagnetic field becomes the "magic field" of two oppositely accelerated charged relativistic discs.
