Abstract

GW4

The Effect of the Tides on the LIGO Interferometers

The LIGO interferometers can record the dark port signal at a sampling rate as high as 262.144 kHz. Of interest is the region around a frequency of 37.52 kHz which corresponds to the first free spectral range of the 4 km interferometers and where the response is equal to that at DC, while low frequency noise is absent. It is found that the power at the fsr is modulated at the tidal frequencies. Analysis of a 16-month long record, April 2006 to August 2007, from the S5 run allows the exact determination of seven tidal lines with a resolution of 0.000000006 Hz.
