Probing alternative theories of gravitation via n-body simulations |
In the weak field limit General Relativity reduces, as is well known, to the Newtonian gravitation. Alternative theories to General Relativity, however, do not have necessarily this characteristic. Since the Newtonian gravitation is largely used to model with success the structures of the universe, such as galaxies and clusters of galaxies, for example, a way to probe and constrain alternative theories, in the weak field limit, is to apply them to model the structures of the universe. In the present study we consider how to probe alternative theories of gravitation using N-Body Code numerical simulations. |

Stochastic background of gravitational waves by cosmological compact binaries |
We study the generation of a stochastic gravitational wave background generated by compact binary systems formed by neutron stars and black holes. Its is studied, in particular, the cosmological compact binary systems in scenarios of structure formation of the universe, such as that by Springel & Hernquist. We then study the detectability of this gravitational wave background and discuss what astrophysical information could be obtained from a positive, or even a negative detection, of such a putative background. |
