Abstract

Physics of the magnetized accretion disks

Observations and circumstantial theoretical arguments indicate the existence of strong, highly ordered and dynamically important magnetic fields in the central regions of accretion disks. They power the jets seen from accreting objects ranging from protostars to black holes. The observational evidence and the processes that may be responsible for the origin and maintenance of these fields are reviewed.
