Abstract

Extension of the IAU2000 metric by including all the c^(-4) terms for the 2PN light propagation problems

Many forthcoming space missions and projects (TIPO, ASTROD, LATOR,....) require laser links with a centimetric or millimetric precision on interplanetary distances. In some peculiar configurations (light rays passing close to the Sun), the theoretical description of such links requires to know all the c^(-4) terms of the solar system metric. The IAU2000 metric, recommended by the International Astronomical Union, includes all the c^(-3) terms, but is not complete at the c^(-4) level. We complete the IAU2000 metric by computing the missing c^(-4) term in the g_(ij) metric component.
