On de Sitter-like and Minkowski-like space-times |
We revisit the global (respectively semi-global) existence results for de Sitter-like and Minkowski-like space-times as given by Friedrich [CMP 1986]. The problem is investigated by using the conformal field equations and a gauge based on a congruence of conformal geodesics. In this gauge the location of the conformal boundary can be obtained directly from the initial data for the conformal geodesics and can be analysed prior to the evolution. This simplifies the calculations as well as the analysis of the problem considerably. |
