Abstract

Cosmological backreaction

It has been speculated that dark energy might be explained by the backreaction of structure formation on the evolution of the (averaged) Universe. I review some of the ideas linked to this cosmological backreaction.

COM1

Just enough inflation

While kinematic and geometric entities seem to be well defined in quantum field theory up to the Planck scale, this is not true for the effective potential. We assume that there is a fundamental scale of the effective potential beyond which it becomes complex or even ill-defined. We study the cosmological consequences of such an assumption. We show that if that scale is the GUT scale, you obtain just enough inflation with initial conditions inspired from chaotic inflation. Based on that scenario, it turns out that the phi**4 potential is not excluded by current CMB data analysis.
