In FLRW models, what effects does global topology have on dynamics? |
It used to be thought that for FLRW models, the topology of comoving space is independent from dynamics. In fact, in the presence of a density perturbation, some spaces are "more equal than others". On the other hand, among spaces of constant curvature (plus perturbations), a certain observational signature must exist for flat compact spaces but is unlikely to be required for curved compact spaces or for simply connected infinite flat space. The observational signature has been detected to very high significance. |
