Abstract

Active Galactic Nuclei in the MeV-GeV band

The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope is opening a new era for gamma-ray extragalactic astronomy. The Large Area Telescope (LAT) aboard Fermi has already detected several hundreds of gamma-ray sources located away from the galactic plane (|b|>10) that can be confidently associated with known Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs). Most of them are blazars that where not previously known at MeV-GeV energies. This contribution reviews the spectral and variability properties of the different classes of blazar AGNs detected by Fermi.
