Transition layer in accretion disks around compact objects as origin of production of hard X-ray emission: a self-consistent magneto-hydrodynamical picture

We present numerical results on the structure of the transition layer of accretion disks from the keplerian to sub-keplerian regime obtained from a full one-dimensional magneto-hydrodynamical treatment of the problem. We perform a set of simulations for different values of the Reynolds number, the mass accretion rate and the fraction of the characteristic velocity of the matter at the adjustement radius of the transition layer. On the basis of our solutions, we explain the different spectral and temporal features observed in systems hosting either a neutron star or a black hole.
