Abstract

Observable effects in a class of spherically symmetric static Finsler spacetimes

We consider spherically symmetric and static Finsler spacetimes that are small perturbations of the Schwarzschild metric. In such a theory the Lorentz invariance on each tangent space is broken, resulting in a spatial anisotropy. We discuss some features of the motion of test particles and light rays which give us observational bounds on the anisotropy. This work is motivated by the attempt fo find an explanation of the Pioneer anomaly within a Finsler geometry setting.
