Abstract

Microquasars and related objects

Accretion onto compact objects seems to power many sources emitting high energy photons. Galactic X-ray binaries (microquasars) are a key source class in the study of this process as they are nearby, well observable and show a fast evolution. I will present an overview of microquasars based on the canonical X-ray bands as well as multi-wavelength data. I will discuss connections to related source classes. Finally, I will show some aspects of the modelisation of these objects.
