Initial data for multiple charged black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell system

Abstract

Conformally flat initial data for multiple charged black holes are constructed by assuming time-symmetry (vanishing extrinsic curvature) and zero initial magnetic field. Using a puncture approach, analytical solutions for the Hamiltonian and Gauss constraints are found when all the black holes have the same charge-to-mass ratio while numerical solutions are obtained for different charge-to-mass ratios. This data set can be used for studying charged black hole collisions.
