Overlapping Marginally Trapped Surfaces |

Abstract |
After a short introduction about marginally outer trapped surfaces (MOTS) and extremal surfaces in numerical relativity it is discussed when or how these surfaces can overlap. Examples are shown where intersections are evident in axisymmetric spacetimes in time-symmetry. Also numerical simulation are shown that show a clear separation between MOTS of two inspiraling black holes. |
