Talk Title

On Multisymplectic Integrators in General Relativity

Abstract

The discretization of De Donder - Weyl Hamiltonian form of PDEs has been shown to lead to the multisymplectic discretizations of PDEs which lead to fast, precise and robust integration schemes. I compare the computational effectiveness of such a scheme with the pseudospectral method in one specific case based on our previous work in nonlinear optics. I present the Do Donder-Weyl Hamiltonian formulation of General Relativity and its discrete version which leads to a multisymplectic integrator for GR. I also discuss the conceptual advantages of multisymplectic integrators in the context of General Relativity.
