Black Holes in a Box |

Abstract |
According to the Anti-de Sitter/ Conformal Field Theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence, black hole physics in asymptotically AdS spacetimes plays an important role in high-energy physics. Unfortunately, hardly anything is known about highly dynamic, non-linear black hole physics in these backgrounds. We describe the first steps towards numerical simulations of black hole configurations in asymptotically AdS spacetimes. This scenario is mimicked by enclosing black hole binaries in a box with reflecting boundaries. We discuss numerical results addressing this issue and the physical mechanisms governing this system. |
