Theory of TeV AGNs: an overview

Abstract

I'll be discussing some recent progress in our understanding of TeV AGNs. In particular, the conditions in the central engine required to account for the rapid temporal variations and large luminosities of the VHE flux observed in some TeV blazars will be elucidated, and some ways in which the inferred black hole masses can be reconciled with the values estimated from the $M_{BH}-L_{bulg}$ relation will be considered. The implications for the location and kinematics of the TeV source on various scales will also be considered. VHE emission from radio galaxies will be briefly discussed at the end.
