Talk Title

Black Holes Thermodynamics and Nontrivial Vacua

Abstract

Backgrounds which break Lorentz-symmetry are especially interesting in the context of derivatively coupled field theories. Namely, in these theories perturbations around such a background propagate with a front velocity different from the speed of light. Thus one could expect that horizons and, consequently, thermodynamical properties of black holes surrounded by such backgrounds are different from the usual case. In the talk I will consider a particular explicit example of such a system and show that spontaneous Lorentz-symmetry breaking generically does not violate the generalized second law of thermodynamics, contrary to recent claims.
