The growth of matter perturbations in f(R) models

Abstract

This work considers the growth of matter perturbations in some f(R) models, showing that they present an observational signature which allows us to distinguish them from $\Lambda CDM$, via the values of the growth parameter $\gamma_0$ and its derivative $\gamma_0'$. It also discusses some issues on the definition of energy densities in these models and on the scale-dependance of the effective Newton's constant, as well as experimental bounds on the models' parameters.
