Optical coatings for advanced interferometric gravitational wave detectors |

Abstract |
Optical coatings are expected to both set the ultimate astrophysical reach of advanced interferometric gravitational wave detectors and to limit our ability to beat the standard quantum limit. In this talk I will describe our group's experimental work, both in developing coatings for second-generation detectors and in understanding the physical mechanisms governing the noise in these coatings. |
