Foliations by Constant Mean Extrinsic Curvature Hypersurfaces |

Abstract |
In studying the dynamics of a spacetime, constant mean extrinsic curvature (CMC) hypersurfaces have long been considered interesting. Using the variational principle Brill et. al. obtained the differential equation satisfied by the CMC-hypersurfaces, for spherically symmetric and static spacetimes. Here we extend the procedure for arbitrary spacetimes. |
