Black hole from pure curvature

Abstract

By a Kaluza-Klein split of six dimensional spacetime into the usual four manifold and a two space of constant curvature we generate a black hole as a vacuum solution of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. This is an example of pure curvature as it can have no matter support in four spacetime. It arises from the coupling of Gauss-Bonnet parameter, constant curvature of extra dimensional two space and $\Lambda$. The latter two are required to be negative.
