Dynamics of self-gravitating Brownian particles

Abstract

We will review a series of exact and numerical results concerning the problem of self-gravitating Brownian particles, a system described in some thermodynamical limit by the Schmoluchowski-Poisson system. Depending on the spatial dimension, the temperature, the dependence of the diffusion coefficient on the overall density, and the presence or not of a confining box, the system presents a large variety of dynamical phases including self-similar collapse or evaporation.
