Absence of Triangles in Perturbative N=8 Maximal Supergravity Amplitudes

Abstract

Concrete calculations have pointed out that amplitudes in perturbative N=8 maximal supergravity exhibit a unanticipated absence of integral functions other than scalar box integral functions. This tames the ultraviolet behaviour of amplitudes independently of supersymmetry. We review how unitarity can be used to compute graviton amplitudes in N=8 supergravity and we discuss consequences of the unexpected absence of triangle and bubble integral functions in the amplitude.
